Brian MacDonald, M.B., Ch.B., Ph.D., joined Zelos as Chief Executive Officer in 2005. From 2003 to 2005, he served as an R&D strategy consultant to the biotechnology industry, with projects that included Head of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs for Gentara Corporation. In 2002, Dr. MacDonald joined 3-Dimensional Pharmaceuticals as Head of Development and a member of the corporate management team, until the acquisition of that organization by Johnson & Johnson in 2003. Prior to that, he held a variety of positions in Clinical R&D at SmithKline Beecham, finally assuming worldwide responsibility for osteoporosis and rheumatology, a role that, following the merger to form GlaxoSmithKline, was expanded to include a range of therapeutic areas including dermatology and analgesia
Dr. MacDonald received his Ph.D., M.B., and Ch.B. from the University of Sheffield in the UK after which he undertook specialty clinical training in metabolic bone disease and rheumatology.
David Krause, M.D., FACP, joined Zelos as Senior Vice President, Head of R&D and Chief Medical Officer in 2008. From 2006 through 2008 Dr. Krause was a Principal with Delta Pharmaceutical Consulting LLC, a private consulting firm to the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Krause has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical space. He served as Chief Medical Officer of Vicuron (subsequently acquired by Pfizer) from 2002 to 2005 and held various drug development and medical affairs leadership positions in multiple relevant clinical groups, including Biologicals, Inflammation and Tissue Repair and Pulmonary and Diabetes, at SmithKline Beecham and GlaxoSmithKline. During his tenure at these companies, Dr. Krause led the successful development and FDA approval of a number of important products in these therapeutic areas.
The author of more than 40 scientific publications and abstracts, Dr. Krause has served as a consultant to the Department of Defense on infectious disease and vaccine-related issues. He received his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine and trained in internal medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Temple University Hospital.

Joseph S. “Jay” Mohr joined Zelos as Chief Business Officer in 2006. Prior to joining Zelos, Mr. Mohr was Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Gloucester Pharmaceuticals, a private, clinical-stage oncology company, from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Mohr was also formerly President and Chief Business Officer at Variagenics, Inc., a publicly traded biotechnology company, from 2001 to 2003, and Executive Vice President of Serono, Inc.'s Metabolic Endocrinology Strategic Business Unit from 1997 to 2001. Prior to joining Serono, he was with Schering- Plough Corporation from 1993 to 1996, where he was responsible for the global marketing of Claritin® and pre-launch activities for Nasonex®.
Mr. Mohr received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University.

Alan S. Roemer joined Zelos as Chief Financial Officer in 2008. Prior to joining Zelos, Mr. Roemer was Pharmasset’s first full-time management hire, raising over $100 million of private and public equity for the company since 1999 while serving as Vice President, Investor Relations & Corporate Communications from 2007 through 2008, Vice President, Finance & Investor Relations from 2004 through 2006 and Vice President, Business Development & General Manager from 1999 through 2004. Before joining Pharmasset, Mr. Roemer was a healthcare consultant for Booz-Allen & Hamilton and Deloitte Consulting, and he also held various operational roles at Bank of America.
Mr. Roemer received a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and M.B.A. and M.P.H. degrees from Emory University's Goizueta Business School and Rollins School of Public Health.
