Zelos Investment History
Zelos has raised approximately US$58 million in equity since its inception in 2000. The Company raised a seed round of US$0.8 million in December 2001 and Series A round of US$11.7 million in January 2003. Four life science-focused venture capital firms participated in the Series A: VenGrowth Capital, Seaflower Ventures, Genesys Capital and the Business Development Bank of Canada. In September 2004, the Series A investors exercised their over-allotment option to purchase a further US$3.7 million in Zelos equity. The Series B round of US$42.5 million was led by Alta Partners, who was joined by Prospect Ventures, Frazier Healthcare, SR One and the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan. As part of this round, Zelos was incorporated as a Delaware corporation, with its Canadian entity becoming a subsidiary of the Delaware firm.
